The wildlife preserve is a natural wonder that extends from the foothills of Mt. Spada to the gigantic Aratu Valley, where the silence is broken by the roar of the river of the same name that flows through it. Thanks to its rocky landscapes and extraordinary and endemic vegetation, Donnortei Park has been classified as a major SCI (site of community importance) area for the monitoring and protection of some unique species.
It formed at the end of the 1990s as a result of the reintroduction of fallow and red deer, as well as the augmentation of the mouflon still present in the region. Access to the park is restricted to hotel guests, who may admire these creatures and their environment, as well as the numerous rare plant species, on a 4-kilometre walk escorted by an expert guide.
Like the agritourism facility, the wildlife oasis is managed entirely by the Serusi family, who has cared for, protected, and enhanced it for over 30 years.
